Anyway...
We are back from San Diego!!
What an adventure! Hunny was gone on the big gray pig, and we had dates set up for a port visit. He was also planning to reenlist during this port visit, so it was really important to us to be there. It's probably his last reenlistment before retirement. (YIKES!!!) So for about a week I kept going into the AF air terminal, bugging them about flights to southern Cali. Not much luck, most flights were going to Guam or Travis AFB in northern Cali. So, on Friday night at midnight, I took the flight to Travis. We were on a KC-10 (I forget what the civilian equilivant is called) and we had a great 4 hr flight. Much faster than commercial, the guys (the flightcrew, all decked out in army green flightsuits, just like Hunny used to wear) were great and I felt so safe and comfortable. I know those guys are sort of used to the planes breaking down or having problems and so they pretty much know how to deal with anything. We packed some snacks and bought a snack pack on the flights and Little man crashed out. Princess didn't sleep one bit, so when we landed at 4am HST (7am PST) she was still going and talking and talking. I was beat after being up all night. Little man was needing more sleep too, but was full of energy!! We hung out at the air terminal for a few hours while scrambling to figure out how to get to SD. Hunny got tickets out of San Francisco and arranged for a rental car for me to drive there. (about 60 miles from Travis AFB.) I caught a cab to the rental car agency (all while Little Man acted fairly nuts, running around in circles, collecting train brochures.) I rented the car luckily without any issues and off I went! The little people crashed out in the car (ahhhh-- peace and quiet!!!) and I called Dawn to tell her "guess where I am?" LOL!!! I passed some exits for some places on my list (Napa Valley!!) and went over some HUGE bridges in San Fran. I saw the Golden Gate but it was on another part of the bay that I wasn't going to, unless I wanted to be lost. HAHA no thanks! We made it to our flight in San Fran and were soon on our way to San Diego! (1.5 hr flight).
Hunny surprised us and was waiting at the gate for us! He was able to get a pass from the USO with his deployment orders so I guess they let him come up. It was awesome and I swear he looked extra handsome! We were so happy to see him and the kids jumped right into his arms! We made our way to our hotel and had 2 weeks of fun! We went to Target several time (my mecca--we don't have any in HI), ChickFila and Seaworld, plus mostly hanging out at the pool or beach together.
Hunny reenlisted on his birthday and I have to say, it was so awesome!! Email me for a pic if I didn't already send it to you. They even put his name on the big scoreboard and it said "Congratulations to BLAHBLAHBLAH on your reenlistment and service" The crowd applauded too, that was one of the coolest things.
Until next time! :)
