Maui, Part 2

So continuing on with our Saturday, June 14th. After we drove around west Maui and didn't fall off any cliffs, we decided to make our way to 'Iao Needle and 'Iao Valley. This area is a quiet and beautiful area but the area was home to one of the most brutal and important battles in Hawaiian history. In 1790 King Kamehameha destroyed the Maui army in his effort to unite the islands. The bloodshed was incredible. But, is it a beautiful place and they have an area you can hike and enjoy the scenery.

After 'Iao Needle we stopped and ate at Maui Tacos, which was ok, not nearly as yummy as Killer Tacos here in Hale'iwa. Then we drove down to Kahei and Wailea to see what the fuss was about. We hung out at the beach at the Grand Wailea and the kids got to burn off some energy w/Daddy while I chilled on the beach. It was heaven and we swore to come back and stay there next time!

This worked up a great appetite so we made our way back around the island to Lahaina and we pigged out on yummy bruschetta and pizza at BJ's Pizza. Then we called it a day and hit the hay, gearing up for our big drive tomorrow, the Road to Hana!!
